About Quality

Quality is one of the toughest concepts to understand. Maybe "Quality"is treated on lines of "Importance" or "Logic".
Philip Crosby said, "Zero Defects". Many say, "Customer Satisfaction".
Edwards Deming was the first guru on Quality. He was mainly interested in statistical quality analysis and quality improvement. He referred to methods of Shewart in statistical analysis.
Juran stressed the importance of top management on Quality. He was the second guru on Quality. He talked about Pareto principle (80:20) and time spiral.
Armand Feigenbaum, the third American Quality guru stressed on Total Quality Management. He talked about problem solving abilities, conflict resolution, standardization. He stressed that everyone has a responsibility on Quality.
Genichi Taguchi, the Japanese Quality guru was interested in quality of products and made formulas for better products. He said cost can be brought down by quality of products.
Kaoru Ishikawa, the Japanese Quality guru pioneered the cause-effect diagrams and was instrumental in the Quality circle idea.
Philip Crosby, an American Quality guru believed that quality is free. Conformance to requirements, zero-defects were some of his ideas.
ISO is one part of Total Quality management. It is concerned with standardization of processes and methods.
Six sigma is the latest buzzword and nothing but 3.4 defects in a million is acceptable in this standard. (Motorola level).
I feel, those interested in quality should assimilate knowledge on Total Quality Management first. Then they can read individual thoughts.

Arrow Workouts

I was finding it difficult to do many sets of certain exercises. While with some it was easy to do more sets. I was wondering how to take it on to my workouts schedule. I do workouts with dumbbells. 10 kg pair.
Then I came up with an idea. I call this "Arrow Workouts". Here is the diagram of my workouts.
This schedule is suiting me. I am able to do dumbbells exercises more regularly. I do about three rounds of this schedule. It takes about 25 minutes - 30 minutes.

1. Biceps Curls 3 sets of 5 reps.
2. Military Presses 2 sets of 5 reps.
3. Squats 1 set of 5 reps.
4. Triceps Back Lifts 2 sets of 7 reps.
5. Both arms together dumbbells rows 3 sets of 5 reps.
6. Bench Presses 2 sets of 7 reps.
7. Dumbbells abs Workouts (Bring both your arms with dumbbells and your legs towards centre, lying down) 1 set of 7 reps.
8. Dead-lifts 2 sets of 5 reps..

I do three rounds. Some days two rounds. The complete cycle.
I plan to change Dumbbells abs Workouts (7th). This does not seem very effective. Maybe I will do single dumbbell raises, standing, between legs to eye levels.
The arrow symbolizes strength. And motivating. And the number of sets has been taken care of, too.

Destructiveness

Destructiveness has been condemned by our society in India, It is not acceptable at all. Destructive mindset is unwelcome and is usually discriminated and considered anti-social.
A person in destructive mode is in quadrant I. He is suicidal. He may cause destruction. He may show unwarranted aggressive behavior. He may express anger to even favorable situations.
Such a person behaves with close associates as in quadrant II. He blames his friends, family, society and organisation for his failures. Any one of them or some of them or all of them.
A person with destructive mindset anticipates as in quadrant III. He begins to expect scheming enemies and foresees situations beyond control. He anticipates mishaps and fears of further discrimination arise in his mind.
Such a person views the world differently and is as in quadrant IV. He feels the situation is unwelcome and there is no scope for improvement. He sees moral corruption everywhere.
Is it bad to have a destructive mindset?
Not necessarily.
There are work which calls for channelizing this mindset for welfare. Cleaning, polishing, exercising, physical work are some ways to channelize this mindset.
Lord Shiva was a god of destruction. There are many devotees of Shiva. Much more than Vishnu devotees. But people in haste and greed forget to listen to reason and follow the successful for short term gains.

ISO and Quality

The crux of ISO is the spin.
The crux of quality is the two hands, we have.
This is the way I think. My brain works this way. IIM guys, are these ideas good?
Then I make a statement for ISO. For myself. The statement is "I shall contribute to my organisation in software".
The order is therefore:-
1) Context. Software it is.
2) Leadership. Software because I am good in it.
3) Planning. I make plans. SAP solutions.
4) Support. I expect support for my plans.
5) Operation. If supported, the steps. If not, the steps.
6) Performance Evaluation.
7) Improvement.
Each of these 7 points follow a spin pattern (Hats off Europe. And apologies.). The x axis which is what you do. The y axis which is what to do to create harmony. The -x axis is improvement. Negative because you need improvement. Possibly, what you do is not correct. Against x.
About the quality, it is Pythagoras and Fibonacci, as expressed by hands (Hats off Europe. And deep regrets.). Fingers and gaps.
The statement for quality is, "Survival of the fittest".
There are two methods in quality process of mine. First, product. Second, money.
I have developed on my quality policies a lot. Like importance of thumb. Importance of four fingers being together. Identifying gaps (Read, loopholes). Cost of gaps etc.
I am also making plans on writing a book on "Caricatures". I am confident the book will sell. These are my current plans.

My Bangalore-ings

Big nerds in computers and software do not need anything more than what comes with Windows Operating System for its efficient running. They make tweaks and play around with operating system in a pro fashion and keep their machines healthy and working at blazing speed.
I am a software crazy guy and I have never hesitated in spending my money on gadgets and software.
I have been Bangalore-ing (browsing) in internet and I feel that these five software are a must on any PC lover machines. These software must be bought by paying by credit card.

  1. Driver Easy - Many times device drivers in a PC gets obsolete. Result, devices like mouse, keyboard, printers may work erratic or may not work at all. This software will automatically find and install the right software and the latest ones at a click of a button.
  2. Auslogics Boost Speed - A PC may have junk files, malwares, bad registry entries and performance issues. This software will take care of all these issues and more. An important necessity on every PC. This software is.
  3. 360 Total Security - This is a complete package on security and most of its components are free. It also strengthens the security of your PC by installing patches, apart from getting rid of viruses. Some features of this software are not free. Firewall Glasswire is not free.
  4. Process Lasso - This is a brilliant software from Bitsum. It keeps the processor and memory working efficiently. Result your PC runs smooth and steadily. As Bitsum have a lot of financial commitments like registration, licenses with operating system companies etc., they are not able to provide this software free.
  5. Hitman Pro - Many times we take a second opinion on issues. When it comes to viruses, we do the same. Hitman Pro destroys hidden viruses and trojans which normal anti-virus may not.

Thinking Workouts

Workouts need to be flexible. When one is motivated enough and does exercises for about 4 days in a week for last many years; then that person can be called a regular exerciser.
But situations keep changing. Maybe getting big may be an objective. But it is very expensive for an Indian. Maybe reducing fat is an objective. But it requires tremendous discipline, patience and stamina to attain this objective. Maybe realization of body, mind and spirit is an objective. But then yoga is not easy. Flexibility is needed. And success in pranayama requires a lifestyle of a particular type.
When a person moves from one place to another he cannot be expected to do exercises the same way. He needs to be flexible. Free body exercises like squats, abs crunches, push-ups can be continued at any place.
A person doing workouts need to think a lot and do exercises according to the situation and his thoughts in the morning and his body condition. Workouts need to be thought out.
But the objective remains. To be occupied in the mornings with some form of exercises.

The case of Sudhir Mishra

Sudhir Mishra was found dead on a Thursday. He was killed by a lethal stab on his back . To be specific the knife completely damaged his spinal chord and punctured his heart.
Sudhir Mishra was a brilliant man. He had four friends in Raghu, Charles, Asif and Sukhbir. His friends were amazed at his brilliance and Raghu, Charles and Asif were many times critical of Sudhir Mishra's audacity for suggesting revolutionary steps.  Sukhbir was different. He would boil in rage from inside at Sudhir Mishra's audacity but would praise Sudhir Mishra in the meetings these five friends would have.
Inspector Cyrus Poonawala was assigned to solve the case of death of Sudhir Mishra.
Who killed Sudhir Mishra?

The case of Satish Shrivastava

Satish Shrivastava was an old , invalid and immobile man. He was once a successful chemist and had a lot of patents and discoveries to his credit. But a paralytic attack ruined him and made him immobile. However his hands were reasonably healthy. He had been provided with a manservant Ramu by his past research organization to take care of him. Ramu had Down's syndrome and had little intelligence. The residence of Satish Shrivastava had webcam monitored by Able Security Agency. Gaurav Patekar was the president of Able Security Agency.
Satish Shrivastava was found poisoned on a Monday and he had died. He was found dead at 8:30 pm. Poison had entered into his body at 7:30 pm.
Inspector Daniel Paul started his investigations. He started by looking at webcam footage of the fateful evening. Unfortunately for some seemingly suspicious reason webcam footage from 7 pm to 8:30 pm was not available. The footage was just dark. The 6:30 pm footage showed Ramu asking the permission of Satish Shrivastava to go to market and buy rations.  Satish Shrivastava asks Ramu to keep the bottle of water nearer and gives permission to leave. The 8:30 pm footage showed Ramu crying near his master's dead body. Inspector Daniel Paul discovers the poison was in the bottle of water near Satish Shrivastava.
Who killed Satish Shrivastava ?

Samir Sirohi was lying dead in his bed. He was one of the richest man in his country and he had no sons or daughters. In fact he did not marry in his life. He had just one younger brother Saurab Sirohi.
Samir was poisoned, the doctors said. He had one known sworn enemy Lakhanpal Singh who was his rival businessman.

Two days later, Saurab rings Paul Rogers and enquires about the case. On knowing that the police were unable to go further, Saurab gets angry and asks Paul Rogers to make a more thorough search of the residence of Samir.
The police were in low morale and do as asked by Saurab. They search the residence of Samir again. This time they discover a letter written by Lakhanpal Singh to Samir Sirohi requesting Samir to allow Lakhanpal Singh to meet him.
