Improving Focus of your Life

In my blogs, I have written about all aspects of a personality and improvement steps that can be taken.
I have written on Measuring Behavior to understand people.
I have written on Becoming Extroverted and improving verbal communication.
I have written on Up and Working to get rid of latency of not getting up to do work.

In all these I have used intuitions and pseudo-mathematics to be sure that my ideas and their implementation happen.
Only one aspect of personality has been left out. In my opinion. And that is improving focus. Improving focus gets you move ahead. In today's world there is no point in being unfocussed. You have to be clear and focused. With this aspect of Focus Improvement, I believe my idea of a complete personality is over.
Take the help of the worksheet attached. Fill up, add, change the fields in them. Just be working with it. I am sure it will improve focus. There is one more reason why focus should improve by working on this sheet. Because it has one row on top(past) and two rows on bottom(future). And this shape is similar to mathematical constant pi.

Calculate XML - An idea whose time has come

What is the idea all about?
Instead of representing information vertically down, it represents information horizontally. The zero may be treated in a mathematical sense. It is most appropriate for rational applications. The concept is obviously right considering the number scale system.
Numbers by themselves have no meaning to them. So these may be treated as useful for practical applications.
However there may be confusion. These can be handled with limited group guessing software technologies.
Big financial applications need many such individual systems. They may be combined meaningfully as a function of big time.
How do you like this idea?

About sketching . . .

Normally, I listen better. I am not serious when I look. As a feedback from SAIL Management Training Institute (MTI), I have a tendency to look above a person's head.
When it comes to choosing a subject for sketching, I am good in identifying contrasts. But I like sculptures and intricate designs within a subject. A sure signal for failure when I have an average drawing skills.
I want to develop this contrasting identification skills and make it simple. Assimilate this process and divide it into four shades like David Rankin namely, white, light grey, dark grey and black. Then try to put into paper.
About caricatures, I am good in shapes, but amplification is small. I need to improve this. And then improve lines within a face. And then learn shading. Lenn Redman is too good in caricatures and there is a lot to learn from his caricature book.
I many times wish there was more than 24 hours in a day. There is so much to do and learn.

Ambition or Greed?

The other day I read the interview of Divya Narendra. I came to know about Winklevoss twins, Facebook, ConnectU.
I also read about the stress Divya Narendra made on the difference between ambition and greed.  I could not fathom the difference between ambition and greed he had in his mind.
But I found the puzzle challenging and decided to take it up with my method of explanation. To be frank it was not that easy to link the puzzle with the explanation. I mean, it did not click immediately. I had to think a lot, work with my models and then I came up with this explanation.
The figure which is almost self explanatory is here below :-

First of all it is not wrong to walk along arrows. It is also not wrong to collect mangoes fallen on the way. These are guilt free activities and are assumed.
When you are in position A, if you collect mangoes at A, B and at C, then it is ambition.
But if you are in position A, if you collect mangoes at A, E and at F, then it is greed.
This is based on my Pythagoras law. A step from say, A to D is addition to what you walked till A. But Pythagoras says A to B is also addition and so is A to C.
Addition is also guilt free. And therefore my statement is that one may freely use Pythagoras ambitiously and collect mangoes at B and C while at A.

My Dream IT Projects

I am an engineer working in IT. I am closely following the trends and growth in IT. The recent good idea I liked was tourist places based social sites. Another idea I read today in Economic Times is about the work done by Zoho. They are into building customer relationship. Probably they try to give a meaning of social sites to the system in an enterprise.
I have a few ideas on possible IT trends in future:-
1) Read object - This object should be highly polymorphed and should be able to read all languages, all types of files, namely video, audio etc. Also it should have AI and understand comma separated files.
2) More Peer to Peer - Though internet has promoted equality in the world and peer to peer technology, the range is restricted. Facebook promotes equality. But then there is a question of fairness too. The Measuring Behavior (http://measuringbehaviour-ravi.blogspot.com) can be an added dimension to the meaning of Internet.
3) Responsible Queues - Social sites can also help in queue management. E-governance will become easier with this. A person from one social group can recommend an advancement in queue to another person in another social group. Provided, no one in the beneficiary group has a clash of interest in the purpose for which the queue exists.
4) Equal Piracy Share - Today the audio and video industry is plagued by piracy. The entertainment industry works hard to keep the masses entertained. Digital technology can help a lot in controlling piracy. The artists and their fans should be and can be made to feel satisfied and entertained.
These are some of the areas where we must look forward to in IT world.

One work plan, many workers

Hierarchy is tough to understand and explain. It is relatively much easy to explain hierarchy in industries. Because one machine and numerous output. So, logically the person synchronous with working of machine can be considered at a higher hierarchy. The person who carry machine output products to trucks may be considered at a lower hierarchy. Why not one of the persons who carry output be at higher hierarchy? Because, many workers are needed and in a hierarchy tree more numbers are below and only a few are at top.
But it is the responsibility of everyone to see that machine is well lubricated and coolant are put at right time. But should the persons lifting output be concerned ? Yes, it is their concern too. Even though they may get a rest when machine is down, but they should understand that the truck also becomes idle. And the truck chain will get disturbed and food supplies coming in may be affected.

Most of the bureaucratic setups, offices, factories, industries necessarily need to follow hierarchy. i.e. one work plan and many workers. I must also mention here that maximising work can be an objective of this setup. This implies that complete and wholehearted belief in fairness is essential. Refer to http://www.measuringbehaviour-ravi.blogspot.com for further clarity.
So here are good wishes and hope for complete faithful adherence to above suggested system.

Just another loadshedding

The northern grid went down. Twice. Seven states were affected.
To me and crores of others, it was just the normal loadshedding. I wonder what the fault in grid meant to the rulers of our country. What is their thought process? Hum ne garibi dekhi hai. Roti ke liye tarse hain hum. Streetlight mein pade hain hum. And now. What? Hum aaj bhi aam vyakti hain. Is this their thought?
Shinde was transferred to another ministry. Not removed. Fear of loosing votes, perhaps.
To me, politicians only job is to promote unity among themselves and among people. The work people will do. It pains when this clear cut guideline is not met.

Crowd management

Crowds, traffic jams, queues are a common phenomenon for an Indian living in a city.
The other day the traffic signals at an important junction went off at peak time. It was a cross-section of roads and did not have traffic police nearby. Such occurences do happen in cities, though most of the cross-sections do have traffic policeman nearby.
The chaos was tremendous. Everybody wanted to get out of the jam quickly and thought he was doing the right thing by moving ahead at a specific time and others were not cooperating.
I thought about this problem and tried to find a solution. The solution or the law (Ha !! Ha !!) I thought was " If the distance between you and the car in front of you is equal to or more than 1 meter;
or the distance beween you and the car in the road perpendicular to you is equal to or more than 1 meter then move forward. Otherwise stay still." If this law is followed by everyone meticulously then the traffic clearance will be faster. And the people will have peace of mind till the traffic policeman arrives back from the tea shop !!
Another thing is the queues in important govt. organisations. I had to face this problem once. At that place there was separate queues for general, ladies and govt. officials. I stood in the govt. officials queue though I am a PSU (semi-government organisation) employee. I was able to get my job done without anybody asking questions.
For other queues, passing the time by reading papers, browsing net over mobile may be the best option.
The best solution is of course is to start early. Considering that we follow IST (Indian Stretchable Time !) and general public mostly join in at stipulated time, this is the best way out.
